Revealed: The 25 'never events' recorded in North East hospitals last year
The number of hospital mistakes so serious they should ‘never’ happen doubled in the North East last year, figures have revealed.
Between April 2016 and March 2017, the region’s NHS trusts recorded a total of 25 so-called ‘never events’ - up from 12 the year before.
The blunders included medics operating on the wrong part of the body and leaving foreign objects inside their patients after a procedure.
